Manual Transmissions

The manual transmission system is pretty simple in comparison to automatic and race or performance transmissions. They operate gears as located along parallel shafts inside a transmission box. Engine power flows when the different gears are meshed. During any gear change, a clutch is used to interrupt thepower flow from the engine to the transmission. If you are experiencing issues including, slipping, grinding gears and difficulty shifting it may require a simple, drain and fill of the transmission fluid.  

Most manufacturers recommend that manual transmission fluid be changed every 30,000 to 60,000 miles.
Automatic Transmissions
An automatic transmission is the most complicated and least understood component of a motor vehicle. In modern cars, it is a combination of hydraulics and computer-controlled components. If you notice problems with your automatic transmission,it may not jyst be the transmission.

The computer, linked to your automatic transmission, receive information from a number of sensors. The computer then procesess the information and then operates the transmission. The problem is often one of the sensors or an electrical connection.

The direct-shift gearbox (DSG) is one of the most popular types of automatic transmissions manufactured today. It uses an electronically-controlled dual clutch system.

The Continuous Variable Transmission,(CVT) provide a continuous variety of gear ratios, so there is no noticeable gear change as the car accelerates. This belt-driven design provides better efficiency than standard automatic transmissions.

THe Dual Clutch Transmissions (DCT) –  a faster and smoother gearbox with increased efficiency. Many car manufacturers now offer this transmission, such as Audi, Volkswagen, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mercedes, Ferrari, Ford and BMW
